How to convert a VSAM file to flat file?

I have a VSAM file and I have to transfer (FTP) the file to a PC, now I do not know if I can transfer the
VSAM file directly, one friend told me that I have to convert it to flat file.
How do we convert it to a flat file, is there utility for the same?
