How to Change the Keyboard layout in Linux

I have setup a command line linux environment but used the default keyboard layout during installation of the linux operating system. After the installation I realized that my keyboard is not working properly as it was not using the proper keyboard layout.
I have a swedish keyboard. I did find some thing sharing with you all so that it can help others who face similar issues.

Change the value of KEYTABLE and LAYOUT as required in by editing the following file
vi /etc/sysconfig/keyboard

The possible values for KEYTABLE can be found by browsing the following location

/lib/kbd/keymaps/i386/qwerty
